Had to put the installation under the carport another time because of wind and storms, but hopefully that will be all for the rest of the time until June 15th. 

Additional comments added to piece:

Being able to slow down, spend less money on things I don’t need and more time on what I already have!

Life seamed simple, abundant time to take long slow walks, to watch tv series with my roommates, try new recipes, to send greeting cards, and that for once -we were all a part of daily life together.

Spending Time in and appreciating my yard

Realizing how very very Lucky I AM To Have the Fortune To Keep the Roof over my Head, the luxury to work @ Home, & the Blessing to SHARE IT w/A Person I love AND Like! STAY SAFE( in a heart shape)

Participation is slowing down. I think anyone in the neighborhood who wanted to post has already done so. Publicity has been a challenge. ArtsMemphis only has Virtual Events. I sent it to the Flyer, but they are only printing every other week now and it didn't get in this week. I submitted to Locate Arts, the statewide arts organization and posted it on Pring Day In May FB page because I printed the cardboard pieces for 2020 Print Day. No posts from UrbanArts either.

That said... Every day I get a little boost reading/copying and posting the positive thoughts. :)

Today the storm blew the virus into my neighbor's yard. Retrieving it in the pouring rain, I had to secure it under the carport at my house and then collect all the soggy cardboard attachments that fell off. They are in the dehydrator right now. I took the opportunity to write down all the submissions so far:

Getting to know my neighbors better and meeting new ones. (peace symbol, fish)

Having Dinner with my family every night!

Focusing more on the simpler things in life! (heart heart)

Taking the leap of faith and Pursuing art full-time, largely because of how much I’ve enjoyed working from home alongside my husband! (Flower) + gardening!

(heart) Spending more time with my teenagers! Ordering board games from Amazon and teaching them life lessons while forming an open line of communication that will forever be a positive influence for their life!

More time with Jesus in His Word as well as time with my wife

Flip the Script

Flip the Script is an interactive installation art work located at 4524 Flamingo Road in Memphis, TN. An eight foot geodesic sphere, covered to look like the opposite of the corona virus image embedded in our visual memory, is located near the sidewalk of the artists’ home in Colonial Acres neighborhood. In front of the ball is a table with white cardboard circles for the public to write their positive experiences with the pandemic. Every evening the artist will gather the circles and attach them to the red-orange ball for the public to view. This project is sponsored by the Bridging the Distance grant from UrbanArt Commission.
